Tamiya Bodies

Tamiya makes bodies for touring cars and scale crawlers that looks like the real car or truck (see pictures above). The bodies are molded with many of the curves and/or features that the real car has on them. Most of the other body manufactures use stickers to try to get the appearance that the Tamiya bodies have molded into them. Most Tamiya bodies comes with rear view mirror and light buckets to give them a more realistic/scale appearance. Tamiya also make a light kit for their bodies or any other manufactures body that has light buckets for the bodies(part# TAM53909). For the people who race, Tamiya makes some of their bodies in lightweight lexan. These lightweight bodies save several grams of weight off the car.

Axial Aluminum Shock Caps

Axial now has new aluminum shock caps (part# AX30111) for the AX10. The aluminum shock caps fit the stock plastic shocks on the Axial AX10 kit (AX90001), RTR(AX90002), ARTR(AX90004), and the RTC(AX90011). The advantage of using these aluminum shock caps will keep the shock caps from falling off which happens to the stock plastic caps. These aluminum shock caps also fit the aluminum shock bodies from Axial (part# AX30122) and the STRC aluminum shock bodies (part#STA30122) pictured above.

AX30111 MSRP $16.00

Project: e-Crono

Here is a 1/8th scale Crono buggy, converted to electric. The project was done with only a few parts needed to convert the nitro buggy to electric. This project is not only limited to the Crono buggy, but it can be done to any other 1/8th scale buggy or truggy. The parts needed for this project were: Tekno 2200kv motor (part #TKR4260-2200), Tekno motor mount (part #TKR40002A), a Tekno pinion gear (shown is a 15 tooth pinion, but pinions range from a 12 tooth part #TKR4152 to a 18 tooth part #TKR5158), and a battery tray.

On this project, there are a few things needed to be done by hand to get all the parts to fit. Holes needed to be drilled into the chassis to make the motor mount fit on the chassis. Holes also had to be drilled in the chassis to secure the battery tray. A dremal was also used to cut the servo tray because only the steering servo is used now since the esc controls the throttle and brakes.

After testing the e-Crono, here are some advantages of converting a nitro car to electric. The biggest advantage is the instant power. There is no waiting for the engine to spool up and the clutch to engage. Another advantage is no more tuning a nitro engine, it is just charge and go. There is also no nitro fumes to smell or bother your eyes.

The main advantage for nitro engines is the sound that the nitro motors make. Another advantage of the nitro engine is the continuous play time by just having to refuel. But that may not be that big of an advantage if you buy a few battery packs.

TKR4260-2200 MSRP $179.99
TKR40002A MSRP $9.99
TKR4152 (12t) MSRP $14.99
TKR4153 (13t)
TKR4154 (14t)
TKR4155 (15t)
TKR4156 (16t)
TKR4157 (17t)
TKR4158 (18t)
